Question about the "Power Pole Wire" on the Mamba Monster (MMM)... - 08.05.2013, 11:52 AM

Question about the "Power Pole Wire" on the Mamba Monster (MMM)...

What is it and what does it do? I am used to the regular MMM V3 that I have now, and was looking on eBay to buy another one for a new truggy, but all I found were the ones with the Power Pole Red Wire & Connector and the new Mamba Monster 2 Water Proof ESC. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,
-Chad

The new Monster 2 has solder posts for the power wires (similar to other ESC's).

Ok, I am not talking about the new Mamba Monster 2, I am talking about the lastest version of the older MMM V3...as you can see from the pics below, there is an extra small red wire coming off of the red battery wire on the ESC and ends in a red connector. It's factory, called a "Power Tap", and I have no idea what it's for, and I can't find any info about it. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for looking, and I hope you guys have an answer...

I'm guessing it's to run power directly from the battery to something...not too sure what though, BEC, servo?

Yep, that's exactly what it is. It won't affect the ESC operation, It just pulls power from the battery... cut it off if using different connectors (and you don't need it).
