Ok, so a year plus later...
I stole the center drive cvds out of this project to fool with the stampy 4x4. And now I am waiting on other parts for the stampy so I figured I would do some work to this truck.
Got the front bulk, and tranny swapped onto the bpp torpedo chassis. Since that chassis is more than 1" longer (maybe 2"?) this truck is going to get big!!!
I am sticking with the 3906 2 speed tranny, I really do not need something this size going 30mph, so the summit tranny will not be needed, Plus all of the linkages and everything else is a direct bolt in on the torpedo chassis.
I was running a 1/4 scale servo up front but have decided to run a pair of 9100t servos, 1 front and 1 rear. Should this not be enough to get the heavily weighted front wheels to move I can always run another 9100t on the front. These servos are more powerful than the hitec servos I currently use, so I figure it will be ok. Pretty sure a ccbec will handle these servos.
As for power I think I will stick with the axi 2826, and a MM on 4s. Seemed to do just fine. I do have a HW80 esc that I may try. I will still run a ccbec so I can turn the voltage up to 6.5v for a little extra push.
This truck needs to be wider. Thinking I will bake the tires off the wheels (really like the losi tires) and scare up some wheels with more offset than the stock lst wheels.
What options do I have? 17mm hex wheels would be good as I think I have enough 17mm adapters to go around. Not sure if I want to go full offset, but I am not near the truck so I am not sure how much offset the lst wheels have. These are regular MT size wheels, not 40 series.
Pics will be up when I get the truck back together.

Props to you for such a unique build. I will definitely be following the progress

Linc is preoccupied with life and his baby at the moment. He doesn't even have time to give Harold a good poking anymore...

He doesn't call, he doesn't write... He just used me and then left... Yet I can't get enough of him.
We all miss you Lincypoo

Yea Linc was one of the greats on here for years, but life does seem to take over sometimes. Trust me I know. 5 kids grown and on their own, but three more teenagers to go. James was one of the original conversion guys around here when turning nitro into electric was just getting started, and he came up with some of the more unusual vehicle setups for us to emulate. I know at one time he had over 100 R/C's sitting around his shop to play with, and about 30% of them were never even touched, because he just did not have enough time to get to them. Besides his new family life he still has his own Body shop to run and keep profitable. I am sure that he also misses poking fun at Harold and the rest of us as well. Maybe he will stop back in some day when his kid gets old enough for him to share his love for the hobby. R/C is just one of those things that you never really grow tired of. Some have taken breaks for a few years and then get the itch once again. Over on the UE forum we have had a few of the old school guys get back into it after 4 or 5 years of being absent. So there is always hope.

Necro thread!!!
I missed the last few posts for 2 yrs!! Nice to see you guys (at least Jerry) think so highly of me.
Well I am in full tilt hobby room makeover. Moving everything around and I found the 6x6 maxx in pieces. Decided it needed to have a new maxx 2speed wide ratio trans and possibly a dual outrunner power setup. So I spent the last few hours digging thru my parts and have found most of a new emaxx trans. Ordered a 2 speed kit off amazon, 35 bucks shipped, I remember rc being more expensive??? Maybe I just have a different view of money since the gun hobby hit full tilt. Dropping a few stacks on a custom gun build was not unusual.
Anyways, I will get some pics up. Might have to make/modify the front chassis to fit the new emaxx tans. I may just make an adapter plate so I can use the BBP chassis and braces. That is next on my list to do.
I will be honest I miss the research and brainstorming we all did here. I look back and fooling with rc seemed to happen in a simpler part of my life, and I would like to go back to that!!! My daughter is 3.5 now and is a lot less stressful so I seem to have more time.
Pull I have some cool new tools I am sure you will all want to see. Stay tuned!

Hey there james -

hey there James, nice to see you back in here slumming around. 3.5 years old already. My how time flies. Our youngest of 8 kids is now 15 and life does get easier as they age. I still have a ton of other stuff I have to take care of, but I will get back to R/C full time at some point. As always it will be interesting to see what you come up with James.

Whats up Jerry!!! Good to hear from you too!
Yep, I plan to get some parts assembled into something that resembles an rc car.
