Turnbuckles

Which ones?

There seems to be alot of different opinions around.

I see talk around titanium, carbonfiber, aluminum.

I broke 2 stock ones today going off a 5" jump??

i wouldnt go for those. i had the alminum fatty ones. althought VERY tuff, i had problems getting them to stay adjusted. almost every run i would have to retighten them. the lunsford titaniums are probably the best. i think they make a 1/8th sized kit for the whole truck. i think it has the turnbuckles, hingpins and something else. the stock size ones are good though.

I recently put these carbonfiber bad boys on my Maxx. I havn't hit any curbs again lately but they seem to be pretty tuff.

sylvester you showed me a different sight on turn buckles, push rods and a-arm pins.
pritty sure they were all made out of carbon.CF
they seemed to be very tough as they showed a picture of a punching bag.
connected to an a-arm and there CF turn buckles, a-arm pins, and push rods would easily hold the punching bag without any problems.

For the maxx, the lunsfor 1/8th kit is very cool, there is a set available with little pivotballs as well.. very nice.

I went ahead and ordered some 7075 turnbuckles. I have not yet seen or heard a review of them.

I also ordered some cheap CVDs off ebay and will see if they hold up.

I always use lunsfords,i've only ever bent one and they wear better with rocks and gravel and stuff hitting them.

You're absolutely right - Carbon fiber turnbuckles will get beat to death by stones and other debris off the track. That's why our turnbuckles are protected inside a 7075 aluminum tube. We're working on torture videos of them being abused and plan to compare them to titanium, aluminum, and plain carbon fiber. I'm confident ours will prove to be the stiffest, strongest, and lightest.

We're expecting to be able to ship the turnbuckles by the end of april, and are already shipping the a-arm/hinge pins.

I know some CF bycycles do the same, they use a a thin layer of aluminum, to protect the CF from breaking inside the tubes.

But what's up with that silver star on the turnbuckles?

Are you the guy hanging on his punchball on a set of savage arms?

The silver star is a pattern on the aluminum outer-tube.

Yes - This is me hanging from a carbon fiber pin in a set of savage arms! =)

I guess that is one way to show the strength of the pins off.
You put a carbon fiber pin in aluminum for the turn buckles.
It sounds techincally advanced. looks tough to. What happens if you bend the aluminum?

I'd like to give these a try,you can't argue with the price and i'm on a major weight saving mission at the moment.
