Well, i can say that a sensorless bl setup shall please you alot more than the hv, reason being is that the possible speeds you will be reaching will put a big smile on your face, as for the hv, you'll get bored of the speed, quickly! I used to have a feigao 10L , it ran hot, but when i got a lehner 1950 my system feels alot more reliable, and the motor doesnt even get hot, nothing above warm. Imo you get what you pay for!
**Edit** And this is all on 14 cells on a 9920.
The problem with nitro's these days are that they arent brushless... LOL

plus for the 8XL is that it has got twice the power of the novak.
You need a stronger drivetrain too!
The novak is better in terms of startup smoothness, but don't get me wrong, thy 8XL doesn't cog like crazy or anything. It's VERY driveable.. :)

I had an HV, it ran HOT all the time. I run a 9920/10xl, good system, i run 16 cells and it stays somewhat cool. I only have a distance problem right now though, but i may have some interference issue. Otherwise, ten times better than the hv, and about the same price!

hv is easy for beginners. easier on driveline.
The 8xl is more power ful but takes more upgrades.
the better esc the less cogging.
Peace!

Yea, the better the esc the smoother, but the motor also has somewhat of an effect on how the esc runs.

ok cool so if i get the feigao and the 12020 it wont cog too much?? also if im using some 6 cell gp3300s from radio shak charging it up with the 977 charger what will be my runtime with this setup?
i also have a set of ib3800s so im not really sure if there is going to be a HUGE diff in the gp330s and the ib3800s the ib3800s are like 30 bucks more for a set so is 30 bucks more worth it?

Get a bk wanderer XL motor with a 12020 and you will be fine. The runtime you will get can range from 10 minutes to 25 minutes, depending on how you drive.
