Hey all!
I'm a noob to this whole scene.
I've built up 2 G2R conversions that I have sold to help pay for the 3rd one that I'm keeping.

I tend to follow the philosophy of GBOSH (Go Big Or Stay Home), and so I'm trying to figure out what motor/esc combo I should throw in my Revo.

Is the 20150 Brushless Car Controller worth the price of entry?
I will probably never race this thing, but I want it to be fast and powerful. So I can bash my brains out with it.

Any thoughts/suggestions to a killer set up? (I just finished up two freelance projects, so money isn't an issue)

I would go for a Quark 125 and Lehner 1950.

I appreciate your recommendations (and all the help you've given me).

But I'm still wondering why this one controller is so much more expensive. I see that it allows for a crazy amount of cells to be used. But it that pretty much the only difference?

Does the speed control have much effect on run times? Or is that mostly the motor/battery combo?

Since my main goal is to outrun my dog (sheltie) and run for a long time, I'm thinking I should downgrade my wishlist from the 1950, to something smaller to increase my times. Guessing almost all the motors on this site will power an eRevo to faster than puppy speed.

The 20150 is expensive. It allows 150 amps continous with up to 20 cells. If you want bigger they have it. The 36 150 is same amp rating but up to 36 cells. Is it worth the money is depending on what you plan to do with it. If you going like a 2280 5 turn yeah. If you going with a 1930 15 turn no. The 1950 will push a revo pretty fast. If not. YOu may consider a wander xl motor. 10xl on 18 cells would be fast and good run time.

I think the Quark is your best bet. Its a decent price and is a really good ESC with great customer service. The 20150 is just not needed unless your running on hellaciously hot motor.

Well, i have 16 cells on a 10xl, IMO, it's not that fast as people said it would be...That's just me. I think my lehner may be a tad faster, will know foresure tomorrow when I "OPEN" her up!! LOL, but i would go with the 1950/8 foresure, as far as an esc....yeah 20150 would be nice! You could run some good LIPO with it in the future that would be crazy in a REVO. A Quark would be good too, but i think i'll hold my own opinion on that unitl i get mine back....jsut shop before you buy, read a lot!!!! This is just MO!

I think 150 amps is just plain overkill. 120 is PLENTY, and 99would be just fine...

That may be. i was suggesting because of his comment of bigger and all that...hehehe, but is there a such thing as TOOO much when it comes to an esc?

Well, maybe TOOO much money. But on a serious note, no. Your ESC can't really be to big (within reason of course) because the more amps its rated for, the less it will heat up. For instance, a 9920 might heat up a tad with a motor pulling ~50 amps average, whereas a 20150 won't heat up as much. Which cooler is always better.

That's why i went with the Qaurk 125 instead of the 80 after hearing that there were issues with heat. and, i bought the 12020 instead of the 9920(even though i only needed the 9920 and would have been easier to wire!!!) was heat issues.
