Your Own Prediction - 04.30.2005, 10:14 AM

Hi, as I said befor, I haven't run my t4 with the 1930/9918 setup on 11 cells yet so I would like to hear from all people in this forum about the estimated speed they might be expecting out of the T4 with 1930/9918 setup. You can talk as much as you want since I've started this thread for fun in the first place.:L:

Speed will depend on gearing, but the system is capable of pushing that vehicle to 70+ mph......if you can keep it in a straight line!

Sounds cool. In fact I didn't buy the t4 to race, but to sweep the ground with speed.

I'm still not sure if the motor is performing well? I dont know why, but it still seems weaker than it should be( at 8.4 volts that is).

It's the LEHNER 1930/5 turn brushless motor with the BK 9918 ESC. This motor is absolutely powerful from what I've heared so far. Some people used it in their TC3 and they've destroyed all the drive shafts of the car and bent the main shaft as well. My motor didn't give me the feeling that my T4 is suffering from overpower at all and that is why I'm worried that it wont deliver any massive power when I'm going to use the 12 cell pack on it. I'm also lacking a good power supply even. O'good lord...troubles are just popping up from every where. AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
May be I should visit a psychiatrist or something?!!

That motor ain't that fast. I'ts only 4200 KV so using 7 cells, you're only getting aobut 32,000 rpm. Using measly 7 cells, a basic 5300 will go faster. A cheap feigao 8s is faster. A Novak SS5800 is comparable... That motor is hardly working with 7 cells. What gearing are you using anyways? What's the tranny ratio? I'll give you some numbers...

Well...if you say so Lipo guy. I thought that the 1930 motor has enough power to pull the T4 to at least 45 mph, however, I knew some how especially after M.Mike had told me that smaller rotors spool up faster than bigger ones that there is really a segnificant difference between the 1930, 1920 and KONTRONIK'S FUN 480-42 motors in terms of acceleration and fast spool ups. The FUN 480-42 wins easily against the rest of the others. I have tried it on 7.2 volts in a B4 and the power was similar to a 13-14 turn brushed motors and the acceleration was okay, but things were absolutely incredible when I supported it with a 12 volts pack. The B4 with an on road tires made back wheelies the whole time and it was almost impossible to drive it at full throttle and when you push the throttle to it's fullest point and steer the buggy it's like a crazy fan rotating on the ground..hehe..that was some experience indeed. The 1920/8 turn however, is not as fast as the 480-42 motor when it accelerate, but it's surely much cooler than the 480-42 after few runs and the 1930/5 turn in the other hand is like an old geezer who can bearly accelerate, but he can give you some good top speeds @8.4 volts so I'm curiuos to see what it can deliver with a 13.2 volts pack. The tranny ratio( this one is the ratio of the T4 which is the same as the B4) is 2.40:1 and the F.D.R is 10.5:1 which is in my opinion a very logical gear ratio comparing it to the huge amount of power the 1930 can put and yes it can only give 4180 rpm@1 volt so I guess that is one reason why it is not fast. Well that's all..for now at least.

Would one of these on 16 cells make an E-Maxx over 70mph? Or does it not contain enough power?

I think their limit is 15 cells and besides, the one I have is a 5 turn one which means it will reach it's peak rpm at 12-13.2 volts since Lehner recommended no more than 50,000 rpm as the limit for the motor's speed, but take this for certain: use a 8+ turn 1930 motors with an E-MAXX weather stock or modified and you WILL experience some true speeds. It can eat a .21 T-MAXX alive with 14 cells. Not to mention that things will get sick if you use a dual system.

The 1930 motor will be capable of outstanding power, torque, speed, etc. but the rest of your electronics must be able to deliver that kind of power. The 1930 5 turn could easily suck up 100+ amps during acceleration so if your batteries or controller isn't up to it, you're not really hitting its potential. Yeah, give it 12 cells or so and that motor should suddenly wake up. Nice thing is that you can probably gear it even taller with this motor vs. the 480 or the 1920 motor.

so with all the speed discussion...what would be the fastest combo for the t4? (assume stock gearing of like 18/87)

S^3: everyone wishes they could design modifications like these.

So you want to tell me that the 9918 ESC is not the right choice for the 1930/5 turn motor and that I should look for the bigger ESCs that is available in the market like the BK 18120 and 18150? BTW, they're too pricy.

The 9918 will handle that motor in your 1/10 pretty easy.
