I just wanted to let everyone know that if you have the 1/8 diffs, this new Torsen differential really works! It's mainly for the front of your truck since both wheels in the rear are usually planted.
I took my truck to a curb and tried it out. I climbed the high curb at a angle so only one wheel would be on the curb, and the other one in the air. As I slowly pulled the throttle...the wheel on the curb was turning instead of the wheel that was in the air. (That never happened with the regular diffs). I must say I am very satisfied with mine.:027:
If you decide to invest in one...get ready to spend some heavy cash because these things aren't cheap at all.
Yeah, Torsen is basically the opposite of regular diffs. In regular diffs, the tire with the least traction gets the most power (which can be somewhat lessened with thicker fluid), while torsen diffs sends the most power to the tire with the most traction. It's very interesting to see how they work; just go to howstuffworks.com if curious...
From what I've read they are good if you are racing on a very smooth surface. If the track is rough and one wheel leaves the ground the other will get all the power and shoot you toward that side.
