Max ESC - 11.19.2006, 05:03 PM

It has an option to change the power, I can't remember the actual setting but it changes the speed of it I belive. It's called "Motor Timings"

Theres 4 settings and I'm wondering if it alters the KV (if this is possible) or voltage to the motor?

Does anyone know more about it? Thanks.

The motor timing adjustment for brushless works similarly to how it works with brushed motors. The effect of increasing the timing is an increase in RPM, but also a decrease in efficiency. IMO the best setting is in the range of low to normal.

Thanks, I'm trying to find ways of taming my car down. It's great on 3s but you need a HUGE space.

I'll try it on low, it's on highest at the moment, lol.

I haven't tryed mine on 3s yet, but i have everything on the lowest settings and so far its still an animal. I'm running 6 cells NIMH and on 80% punch control it will still yank the front wheels off the ground

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

What exactly is "Punch Control". There is no definition of what each setting does, this is one area that is lacking for the software IMO. I would have sent an email to CC but I have never got a response on other emails that I have sent them so I didn’t see a point in it.

At a guess, I'd say it's like an integral function. Even when you jam on the throttle from stopped to full WOT, the ESC gradually increases the signal to allow the motor time to spool up. This should help runtime since the current requirements will be less.

It gives a definition on mine, have you updated your software?

It says the higher the punch control the more traction you get, so for 100% it's best used on low traction surfaces and 2wd drive.

0% would be like 4wd on a high traction surface.

When i got it and run in default, there was no hope of keeping the front wheels on the ground, It didn't matter if it was dirt grass or blacktop, it would carry the wheels at least 1/4"off the ground. I now have the settings on the lowest and cut off voltage to 5v to tame it down.

punch control takes some of the steam out of the initial start up

There must of been a glitch when I downloaded and installed it before because those buttons did not work (for the definitions). I redownloaded and installed it again and now it works. It is the same rev. as I had the first time so it must of been a glitch on the download.
