Snow might harm the electric components, but you can actually get the water resistant controllers for this type of weather.
Converting the Savage to electric will surely cost you some money around 900-1100 dollars.
The most important thing you need to do, is to make yourself a motormount for the electric motors and some brackets to hold the batteries on each side of the chassis.
A good motor would either be a Neu motor or a Lehner motor.
The Neu has some large holes on both ends of the can to keep the motor as cool as possilbe and that will be a hinderance in off road racing and a nightmare in a wet condition such as driving the truck on snow.
However, Mike is recently selling the Neus with a rear end cover to seal these big holes and prevent debris and sand or even drops of water from getting inside the can.
To go the safe way, I'd rather get the Lehner 19 series. The 1950/9-10 turns are the best you can get and they are 98% percent sealed and you only need to look out for the bearings at both ends of the motor.
A good controller for wet condition might be the MGM16024 controller.
Its originally made for racing boats, but its actually been updated for usage in surface vehicles like cars and trucks.
You should use hi quality lipos for wet conditions.
The FlightPower Evo20 Batteries are amongst the best in the market for boats, airplanes and cars.
So, besides the motor mount and battery holder, you need a good setup like a 1950/10, 6s( 6 cells in series) lipos and the MGM16024 controller.
Such a setup would be around $1050 or something, but definitely a tough equipment for high torque and power.

If you think that's too much, then forget about lipos and get normal sub c cells for your motor/controller.
You might need between 16-20 cells to run your truck at high rate of power, but the truck is gonna be quite heavy, BTW.

Welcome to the forum bogrith.
Mike can make you a motor mount. If you look around he has made a few before.
The battery trays is up to you. Do you plan to go 1 speed or 2 or 3 speed?

Peace!

lol, i dont think it will cost 900-1100! Its more like 500 if you want to go cheaper. Instead of lipos, use nimh. And buy EVERYTHIGN USED. lol, thats wut i did and i got very good truck for a decent price. BUT if you really want to race, then go for teh good stuff.

Depends on what you REALLY want.

This would depend on what system you would like to get, you can get a very decent one that is dependable, but you get what you pay for.

If you can afford Lipo, go for it, you won't ever go back!

:005: This would depend on your wheeling and dealing. You can get some really good stuff for a FAIR price, without using tactics to get stuff cheap.
You truely get what you pay for, and going new, for the most part you know what you are getting. Shop around a lot before buying!!! That is KEY! Know what you are buying to, this helps a lot. Otherwise you're stuck with stuff that you don't know how to use. Ask before you buy, this will help!:005:Everyone here is nice and can help you.
