How many cells will you run? Serum will respond to this in the morning , most likely. He is the resident savage conversion guru. You may find some info in a couple other posts as well(there have been a couple savge brushless posts) in the meantime.

Here is what you are looking for. Serum recommended a 12 tooth pinion for you. Based on the gearing chart linked in the post, I would agree that it is a good starting point for gearing.

ok. I saw his chart. How does he calculate that. And ill order a 12/13 mod 1 gear with my brushless order.

i went and look what pitch the spur gear was. HPI and Tower says its 1m. Is that 32 pitch? or would the "m" be Mod. so Mod 1?

The chart calculate motor rpm based on voltage. It then calculates speed based on the gearing (including pinion, spur, transmission reduction, tires size and diff reduction). The pitch is module 1.

A guy ive been talking to has a brushless savage on 14 cells. Hes useing a fiegal 9l. Hes saying he runs 15/49 and its runs good. Should i take his advice and run 16/52. Or do you think thats too high.

I think 16/52 may be on the high side. It would be fine for speed runs occasionally, but for everyday running, I would stick with the recommended 12-14 tooth pinions. This will get you in the 35-40 mph range. If you gear much higher, heat will be high and runtime will be low.

Yep. Unless you run up and down the street, it will be plenty fast, though!

I really, really don't understand it anymore.. I am missing posts on and on and on.. I start reading thru the forums and found this one too.. I am sorry for not answering this question (and much other questions i am missing somehow, i threw away my cookies, i guess that's the catch...

But, in order to give you an anwer; Did you tested it allready?

The 12T pinion is good to begin with. You can always drop in a 49 tooth spur, but try it first. If you are going to run it with the GT tires, (stock tires) you will suffer a nasty balooning.. on topspeed you might use a 100ft wide road, because it lives a life on it's own with this tires..

i havent test it yet, the stuff hasnt came in yet. But do you reccomend any tires that dont ballon? Also is there a way to fix the ballon. I hear some people put ducttape on the foams.
