Quark Programming Capabilities - 02.19.2007, 06:31 PM

Currently I'm running a Quark 33amp Pro Car ESC in my rc18t with the mamba 5400kv motor on 7 Nimh cells. I'm looking into lipo mainly for the run times and well, just because i like to be on the curve of upcoming technology. However, it is a major p.i.t.a to program this little bugger. So i was wondering if there exists a programming cable or some trick that might allow me to program the lvc?

Also, I know lipo chargers are popping up everywhere, but have they gotten that adapter so that all Nimh chargers can do it (I thought some company was working on this). I'm using a Novak Ionic 2 that I love for its ease of use, however, I could be persuaded to change if necessary.

As far as lipo packs, what am I looking at. I don't think I want to go more than 3s and I don't want to modify the stock chassis. Are taps and a balancer really necessary?

Sorry remix, no programming cable for the quark. It is a pain initially to program but after doing it a couple of times, it's not that bad.

As far as the battery goes, 3s is the most that is recommended for these little guys. Most people run a 2s but my 3s fits in there snugly. It is a Maxamps 3s 2100mahHV. And yes, you need to keep a LiPo balanced so the taps ARE necessary.

If you want super easy programability, then switch to the Mamba 25 ESC. You can program it on the computer, and is very easy. The 1st couple times, it is actually quite fun, trying all the diferent settings out.

I too plan to run lipo in my rc18 wtih a Mamba 6800. I couldn't find the Max Amps 2100 3s battery though. Only a 1550 3s battery that will fit.

Ahh I strayed away from the mainstream mamba since the quark has a nice heat sink and is extremely smooth. However, I guess I can stomach a few more hours of programming haha.
