Yes, I do... but it will be interesting to find out how it does. I don;t know if anyone has pushed these motors to the limit in something like this. I know a guy who ran a basic 4200 motor in an emaxx and it did 40mph+ but ran hot. The 5700 setup may be very fast if done right, but it will be limited to short runs, imo.

A back-of-napkin estimate says that if you gear it 9/46 it will hit 50mph theoretical. I don't know if the little 5700 can do that... but it will sure try. That's why it will run hot... it's being overloaded.

The only way I see it doing ok and not overheating too quick, is if you gear it even lower... so it tops out around 30. That will take some custom work... large spur, truck diffs, etc. Even then the high revs will make it run pretty hot, but it should work.

Personally, I don't think it will do good. I would probably bet money it will fry the controller. I would invest in a good XL motor and run 4S LiPo. 4S should kinda be a minimum to run in a buggy, MT, etc.

I know the Mamba ESC and 5700 are rated to be able to handle the 3s lipo. Do you say this because of the extra weight of the 1/8 car?

If I change to the Mamba 4600 with 2s lipo will this be any better?

1/8 buggies/truggies weigh about twice as much as the 1/10 cars the Mamba Max system was made for. None of the Mamba Max motors will run properly in a 1/8 buggy/truck/truggy. You could use the Mamba Max ESC, though, just not the motors.

For comparisons sake, its like running a 500cc ATV motor in a Hummer...its just not big enough.

1/8 buggy = 8lbs and heavy 4wd drivetrain, big tires
1/10 buggy = 3.3lbs and very light 2wd drivetrain and tires

Yes the difference is HUGE

Eveyone is trying to tell you it's not a good idea, but you are free to do it. A few years ago guys were running setups kinda like that. The first "emaxx" bl system was an 8s motor... somwhat like a MM4600 I would guess.

But nobody runs a setup like that anymore... for good reason.

Makes sense. Thanks for your help.

Can you recommend a motor? I would like to use the Mamba ESC; I really like the tunability through the computer. I am not looking for extreme speeds; 30-40 max. I would like to use 11.1v or 7.4v lipo and get long run times.
Thanks again for your help.

I am not clear on why this is so? Any chance you could let me in on this?

Why what is? Why I would use a XL motor, or why 4S should kinda be a minimum?

my bad.

I am also going to use the stock disk brakes, not electronic braking. My understanding is that this will help with limiting the current draw.

Watts = Amps x Volts
So say you need 750 watts to do 40mph (just a guess, some one else might say different).
At 7.4 volts you'll need 101 amps (740 / 7.4 = 101)
That's alot, I think the limmit of the MM is 100amps, so you'll burn it out pretty quick. Plus axcellerating will take more amps (if your batteries can handle it).
At 11.1 volt you'll need 68 amps, plus more for acellerating. Still a lot for the hole system.
At 14.8 volt you'll need 50 amps. Still a lot, but no where near as much as 100 amps.
These numbers aren't 100% accurate, but you get the idea.

With high current low voltage everything will get hotter. And your batteries will drop voltage more with the high amps, making the car feel less powerful on take off.

I think you need to start a new thread... and look up some other 1/8 buggy MM setups. This thread is getting way OT and all over the place.

Advice: For $80-90 you can get a Feigao L or XL with or without finned can. An 8XL or 9XL on 4s will run great. And you don't need the mechanical brakes.. it's only adding weight and complexity.

Think about what's been said... and start a new thread with the questions you have now.
