Getting a new XL5 Traxxas Bandit. - 03.12.2007, 10:03 PM

I've decided to get one of the new bandits. I'm going with a MM ESC, Lehner 1920/10turn. I don't have much experience with buggys and I need recommendations for tires and anything else you think a bandit shouldn't go without. What are the best dirt tires, and what are the best tires for speed runs? Will the pede/rusty RPM bearing carriers work on the bandit as well? How much speed would you say a bandit can do before it takes flight?

I'm pretty sure the Pede/Rusty parts will work. The Bandit is really a Rustler with shorter arms and smaller tires.

For general bashing I would say the dirt hawgs... for running in grass and dirt areas, step pins or bowties. For racing, check with the local racers for the right tire for that track. Bowties work at least a little on almost every outdoor track, but they usually are not the best at any of them.

The stock tires should be really good for speed runs... and I have no idea what the flight takeoff speed is, lol... I'll guess 20mph faster than a Rustler...

There are no races where I live so I'll be using it for backyard bashing and speed runs. On my pedes/rusteis the proline Dirt Paws do by far the best of anything I've tried.

I need some buggy tires with big spikes or claws. All the offroad buggy tires I've seen have smaller spikes like the Hole Shots or Step-Pin tires. So far the ones that look the best are the Step-Pin.

I'd like to find something with bigger pins if possible.

I would personally go with the aluminum hubs that Traxxas has...
