Transfer my current setup to a lighter vehicle.... - 08.29.2007, 08:14 AM

Hey everyone -

So I have this massive brushless Monster GT sitting here, and I can see in crystal ball that I'm going to end up with one of the new MGT 3.0's, the 1/10th truck coming out in October.

The new truck is a claimed 8 pounds ready to go. My truck now, loaded up, is 15 pounds, which is pretty heavy.

Currently in my truck, I have a 1515 1/y, with a modded Quark, so tons and tons of power. I only run 4s LiPo too, and I still have plenty of power.

If I swapped my current electronics to the lighter truck, and just geared up a bit to make up for the excess power, would it still be too much? Would it be better to throw a 1512 series in there, maybe a lower kv too?

To save money, it'd make sense to use what I have, maybe at the worst get 2 batteries and series them together to better spread out the weight.

I'm just thinking outloud. I guess it's like someone asking "is the 1515 1/y too much for my E-Maxx?", to which I would probably say yes, unless they had the 1515 sitting in their stable........

I know the setup would run cooler (right?) by just moving it to the lighter vehicle, which would be really great since I have to pay attention to it now especially on those hot summer days.

Throw some ideas my way. I haven't pre-ordered the new truck yet, I'm really hoping to see a chassis layout picture to see if things can be modded without turning it into a mess before doing so, but then again, where there's a will, there's a way!
