I kinda prefer painting the outside really, as its much the same as normal painting- do the background first, then onto the details and highlights; working in reverse order like when doing lexan shells is very alien to me.

I'm not the only one then. I much prefer painting outside to inside, it is much easier for me to mask and get no bleed through outside as well. I lack the manual dexterity to do complex internal masking and end up destroying the masks.
