Contact area is not much more than 1.5 times as much. As far as contact pressure goes, the traxxas plug just relies on the flex of the plastic, where the deans has a spring to hold it together. I do not run traxxas plugs, but I did have to install 47 of them for a buddy (he has 3 pedes and an emaxx, and he has a butt load of stick packs). I did notice that the build quality of the plastic varied widely. Some of them snapped together very tightly, and others were almost loose. Deans are better in that respect. i have had 1 deans fail, and that was used underwater, and the little spring piece coroded off. Some dielectric grease would have cured that issue.
