how to hard wire monster max onto feigao 7xl

this is my first brushless setup and i want to hard wire the mmm wire onto the wire of the feigao 7xl. my question is...how is it done? back on my brushed motors i would just solder the wire onto the motor tab.
do i interlace/mesh the wires and then just solder them together? the wires from the motor are very stiff too. and what color to what color do i match the mmm and 7xl wires with? should i electric tape them first before i solder the wires together? any help or tip appreciated.
