My FLM Hybrid Bulks for Savage - No Shimming Diffs?? - 07.27.2008, 01:27 AM

Hey guys - just a few pics of the FLM Hybrid Bulkheads for the Savage... No diff cases or anything necessary as someone has suggested to me, (from what i can see anyway) and a straight bolt on replacement piece...

Apart from a few of the holes not being quite threaded deep enough (I just sanded the screws a fraction shorter with the sanding drum for a couple seconds on each screw that needed it, using the dremel and straight in), it's been extremely easy to get installed being that there are only two halfs and the diff/crown gear assembly to the whole unit! =)

I also noticed that it doesn't appear my diffs need shimming at all?? This is if my thoughts are correct as to where the shimming takes place...

I am under the impression that it's on the crown gear itself where it connects to the ring gear of the diff, that needs to be nice and tight with minimal, if any play (back and forwards as you push/pull on the centre outdrive that holds the crown gear) - is this correct???

If so - then there is no shimming necessary =) Anyway - enough of the usual carried away babbling i tend to get... here are the pics =) I'll get some more pics with stock/upgraded comparison shots etc and update this thread when i get round to doing the rear end - enjoy =)
