Another Lipo, charger, setup questions - 07.24.2009, 02:07 PM

I have my buggy conversion complete and no batteries. I have the Tekno D8 buggy with the MMM 2200kv combo. I am running the clutch setup.

Guys, I am having a very hard time picking which Lipos to get! I don't mind spending the money to get good lithium batteries and it seems thunder power 5000 40C is the best of the best for racing. Is this true?

I want to make at least 20 minutes of hard racing as my goal. I understand a light trigger finger is always best and I plan to use that in longer races. We have a big race coming up in October and if the number of electric buggies doesn’t pick up we have to run with the Nitro guys. Sportsman A main is 30 minutes long and B main is 20. The electric main is going to be 12-15 depending on what the racers decide on.

My starting setup for the Hot Bodies D8 is as follows:

Differential Ratio: 4.3
Transmission Ratio: 1
Other Ratio: 1
Spur Tooth Count: 48
Pinion Tooth Count: 16
Total Voltage: 14.8
Motor KV: 2200
Tire Diameter (inches): 4.5
Tire Ballooning (inches): 0
Motor Current Draw: 0
Motor coil Ω: 0.006
Spur/Pinion Ratio: 3 : 1
Total Ratio: 12.9 : 1
Tire Circumference (inches): 14.14 inches (359.08 mm)
Total Motor Speed: 32560 RPM
Vehicle Speed: 33.79 mph (54.28 km/h)
Effective KV Value: 2200
KT constant: 0.61 oz-in/A
Motor Torque: Amperage not specified...
Final Torque: Amperage not specified...
Final Power: Amperage not specified...

I have an 18 tooth clutch bell on the way to put me at 38mph for bigger tracks

The car will not see over 40 mph. I feel that is fast enough for racing.

There is no battery size limit for my club racing and I run with all nitro buggies (10 minute main)!

For the guys that race is my starting setup okay or would you recommend I go to a 5S setup? If so, which battery?

If I stay with 4S I want to run two 2S in series, I have a touring car and a stadium truck, what batteries do you all recommend from personal experience?

Is there another battery equal to the performance of the Thunder Power 40C?

Is 40C overkill for what I want to do?

Is 30C a safe minimum for 1/8 conversions?

Do I need to buy another charger? If so, which one? Why?(I have a hyperion AC/DC EOS606i 50W)

Do I need a power supply? If so, which one? Why?

I know this is a lot of questions, but I want to make sure I am doing this right the first time and learn from other people’s mistakes. I am trying to keep the monster happy.

Thanks in advance!
Jarvis
