That measurement is on the end cap, the o.d. of the fins will be quite a bit larger. The 1717 (1.7 diameter rotor) will need to be
at least .2 inches larger or about 5mm than a 15 series (1.5 diameter rotor), and more yet if they pack more/larger windings in there.
