Soldering iron or Station

My soldering station just took a dump on me so I need a new one. Just don't know if I should get a soldering station again, or if I should go for a gas soldering iron. Will a 60w gas have enough umph to solder the 8awg wires on my lipo packs?

My old station was a 48w unit and even with a 3.2mm tip it had problems getting enough heat into the thick wires. I'm leaning towards getting the gas, since I can bring it with me to the track and what not.
