You guys are going over the limits. In the past, people used to run Hacker B50 7s motors in their maxxes with high speeds. Why would he even go for an L size motor?!! You want something as fast as a HV or only a friction faster than the HV, the S motors from 8,9 turns ( with a 9920 and a small pinion- they run hotter) to the 10,11,12 motors with the 7020 e.s.c and standard gear ratio are the cheapest and the most affordable everywhere. The L and XL are made for high torque and for me in a stock maxx, they look more like an overkill motors. If you dont want to upgrade anything in your maxx and you want to drive it with joy, just get the 12s and 7020 setup and I promise that you wont regret it. If you want to upgrade your truck, thats a whole different story. My appologies for the long reply.
