The rear was lowered as well. I took material off all the way around until the hood rested on the shock tower to provide additional support for the front. Also, in reference to ride height, (contrary to what is known as fact) I think low and firm, will be trumped by high and soft. Leave it kind of high but more importantly soft. Don't change the springs. At speed, it seems to be the little things that unsettle it. Remember, Traxxas has incorporated all the go fast variables into the chassis, but as anyone who follows F1 can tell you, the parts are invaluable to the whole. If the ground effect of the flat.bottom and diffuser get disturbed, let's say by running over a small rock, the downforce they create will be uneven and possibly introduce a turbulence promoting lift. The soft suspension will help the shocks absorb the inconsistencies of a pass, and increase the period of any sudden events. This may give the car a fighting chance to absorb, and have a successful pass. The soft suspension also will do little to resist the increasing downforce (produced as the car accelerates), from pressing it into the ground. This will make the car sufficiently low, when it is the most important, while still retaining effective damping. I just need to find some progressive springs to help me fine tune this, but it seems ok with the stock setup for now. Just adjust the suspension so that the front is not higher than the rear during hard acceleration after about 40mph.
Tip - Rake of the body can increase or decrease downforce so don't forget the body mounts as a tuning tool.
