Feasibility of Brushless LST2 Project?

Hi all, first post here, long time lurker. A while back I stumbled onto this…http://www.finedesignrc.com/1-8carst...DM1-8ScaleLosi… and was thinking about trying to build it myself with parts from Mike, since he is much better at customer service and I believe I can do it for cheaper than FineDesign! My main worry is how to use a double pinion setup like the LST2 utilizes? Anyone else done/seen this kind of project? Any other major issues I should be considering before dropping cash on the RTR kit?
