Yes, because of the ballooning tires, the front wheels get larger than the rears. Due to that, there is a relative large stress on the drivetrain. With a centerdiff this stress is taken away (for the biggest part, it is just sucked up by the 50K oil in the diff..)

and it looses weight as well.
