My buddy didn't bring the XT8 tonight. We were going to run 1/18 scale at the indoor track, so he left it at home. I'll try to shoot some pics this weekend.

As for the battery tray, all I use is a flat piece of 1/8" thick aluminum bar that is fastened to the chassis in two of the existing nitro engine mount holes with standoffs. I use industrial strength velcro on the bottom of the battery and a large velcro strap around the battery. I've found that this holds the battery very well. I've had some pretty bad crashes and have never had a problem with the battery flying out. We had this same setup in the Kyosho. The car took flight at about 90 mph and then hit the ground and crashed. The battery didn't move.

I used to make all sorts of extravagant trays and such, but it's tough to accommodate for all of the different sizes of batteries. It turned out that the minimalist approach works very well.

Mike can make you nice custom battery trays, I have one of them on my XT8.

On another note: If you are worried about the rather flexy chassis of the XT8, we designed a chassis stiffener plate specifically for the XT8. Ask Mike about it. A nice extra tuning feature right there, you can easily remove the plate for flat Euro style tracks and extra traction.
