My MGM12018 - 10.24.2007, 02:52 PM

Hallo everybody,

I have programmed my MGM12018 choosing forward / backward mode and all seems ok.

When I run my model, if I go in FULL forward and then I reverse the stick, the motor brakes ok and if I put again the stick in backward the model goes in reverse.
But if I don't go in FULL FORWARD when I run, reversing the stick in backward the motor goes in reverse directly without braking before and this is not good!

I don't understanding if MGM works with this bad mode of reversing (so I'll must set the one way mode) or my esc has a problem.

Can anyone help me?

What software version is it? I know the earlier versions had more problems than the current version (still not perfect).

Yes, this is the stupid thing w/ MGMs/ They are otherwise great, but do not have a reverse lockout when travelling forward. If you double pump the brakes it will go into reverse generally people put them into fwd only. It would eb really nice if they updated this.

This is the 16018 not 12018 right?

Anyways, i had a similar problem with mine, but it would brake fine till i was at about 5 MPH then it might trip reverse, its a quirk of the esc design. If you don't need reverse, just set it to forweward/ brake and you will be fine

edit; I just checked my instructions and saw there is a 12018, sorry

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I only have the problem of going into reverse at low speeds, like crazyjr. At high speeds I can hit the brake several times no problem.

This is not good!
I am a little disappointed for this with MGM.
I bought MGM 12018 to run my savage or my buggy at 6s lipo, but I would the backward mode too.
If I let the forward / backward mode, could I damage the esc, the motor and/or model trasmission?

MGMs have ALWAYS had this problem... The only way to get rid of it is to disable reverse. That's not always such a bad thing, though (IMO).

With such high power reverse like that, it's definitely possible to damage drivetrain on the buggy/truck, and I could imagine it being possible to also fry the ESC like this.

SH Z-Car, Custom Crawler, 8s Savage, 12s XTM XLB 1/7 buggy, 4wd 4-link rear/IFS Pro4 truck, Custom Hyper 10 Short Course, Belt-Drive Mammoth ST 1/8 truggy, 4s 17.5 MM Pro HPI Blitz
