The Y and Delta winds use the same number of wires, as it were, but are configured differently to produce a higher or lower Kv rating. How this effects cogging exactly I dont understand either- maybe its like more agressive timing vs softer timing, but in the actual motor and not via esc programming?.... whatever, the only reason no to use the MM esc is simply down to voltage and current draw limitations, but it all depends on how hot & hard you drive I guess.
