Ok possible dumb question here, should one run a heatsink on a neu finned motor?(not even sure if its possible)

No, the fins are like a heat sink by themselves. The only real way to get more cooling is to water cool it if you ask me...

I don't think you could do it, not without getting one custom made to fit the shape of the fins (obviously it would only cover one side of the motor, because if you made one to go around both sides it wouldn't slide on).
The easiest way would probably be to use the motor mount as the heastink, even though it wouldn't have as much of an effect.
Usually if you have heat issues with a neu either somethings wrong with your setup, the motors not suited to the setup or your pushing it really hard, because neus don't get hot that easily.

Another guy at racing runs a finned hacker in his kyosho truggy, and before he got a rcm motor mount he used to have the motor wrapped in alfoil and clamped to the chassis with piece of thin aluminum bent over the top of the motor. He used the aluminum to fill the gap between the fins, not sure how well it worked though, the motor still got hotter than my neu.

i dont see a need for a heatsink on a finned can the neu fins should be enough.

Yeah, any of the Neus are quite efficient motors so additional cooling is largely unneeded. Simply using the finned version is more than sufficient IMO. If the motor gets hot, then something is set up wrong.

Second that. My 1515/1y/f 2200kv barely breaks a sweat on 4s. I haven't tried 6s yet, but if I do need more cooling I will cut vents in my body and possibly run a fan. I doubt I will need it though.

I have ran mine on 5s a few times, she gets a tad on the warm side. I would not suggest 6s unless you gear it perfectly.

I like it on 4s to bash. I would only try the 6s for a speed run.
