Upgrade brushless motor ? - 11.26.2007, 03:12 PM

hello,
I purchased my set up from Mike,

it is

8XL

Mamba max ESC

I also run 2 7.4 8000mah lipo for 14.8V

Proline big Joe tires

I want to upgrade the motor for a little more speed, What does the RC monster have? I use the truck (e-maxx) on grass and hardpacked dirt roads.

Thanks in advance

More speed than an 8XL can provide? I would say take a look at your gearing first, and see if there is the possibilty to gear up without overheating the motor &/or esc too much. The Bigjoe tires will slow the setup you have down, and also force it to work harder since they are very heavy- better off with some lighter bowties or mashers for those 40 series rims. Checkout BrianG's calculator for more gearing/motor options: CLICKY

That should go Plenty Fast.... What gearing are you using? and is the Motor or ESC warm/hot?

I have a 7XL in one of my Maxx truck with 4S as well...

I would say on an 8xl, he should be able to gear up some. Otherwise, go with a 7xl...if you are running 4s, I would suggest 7xl....

Another thing that you could do (if you have the money) is upgrade the ESC - That way you could run a higher cell count.
