emaxx brushless problems - 02.24.2008, 05:05 AM

I have a mtroniks brushless system in it and it was working great. and for some reason when i turned it on to go drive it again it had like no power. it was goign at about rock crawler speeds. so i checked if the batter was even charged and it was putting out 15volts (4 cell lipo) so it was good. i then put a bec on it casue i was never running a bec. and that did nothing. i then tryed to swap out the motors and it still ran the same. Also i thought it might of been cause the lipo had not been balanced the last time i charged it and i have not really used it for a few months. so i hooked it on the balancer and it started to balance and when it was done i turned it all on and it was the same. the only things i have not tryed yet is the esc and radio. i was playing with the radio trying to make it not brake so hard but when i was going over the setting on it it was all fine. so im guessing it was the esc.

just wondering what you guys think and if u know of something else i should try.

if i had another esc i would try it but i dont.

You could try resetting your transmitter to the default setting and recalibrate it with the esc. What kind of connections are you using for the motor esc, battery esc? I was told at one time that those connections can go "bad". I ended up putting all new bullets and deans on. Wasn't the problem with mine but you might get lucky. Does your esc have a training mode that it might be in? Half speed?

check the balance on the lipo pack. Make sure you don't have a bad cell in it. If its balanced I would charge it all the way up just to eliminate the battery as a possibility.

Another possibility could be that you need to rerun the radio/esc calibration so it recognizes full throttle? or possibly did the EPA on the radio get adjusted way down? Check all your radio settings, make sure they are zeroed and then rerun the esc/radio calibration. That should eliminate that as a possibility.

If its running, just not fast enough that seems very strange. Usually when a ESC goes bad it goes bad all of the way.

EDIT: Gee beat me to it.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

yah thats what i was thinking. thats why i have not tryed to swap out the esc.

also on the battery i fully balanced it and charged it back up and its good.

im running deans on the battery and bullet connectors on the motor.

i guess i well look at the settings again and see if something is out of place.

any more suggestions i want to run this thing. lol i got paddles for it and it wants to go to the beach hahahaha.

ok now i really fried the esc. i was going to hook up a new battery to it but i had to make a adaptor to go from deans to tamyia and when i did that i did not pay attention to it so i reversed the polarity of it and fried the bec and esc.

also found out why it was running so slow. on of the connectors were loose. when i took the esc off i was pulling the motor plugs off and one just the wire came off and the plug stayed on the motor. lol

oh well now its time to get a mamba max back in there.

Woops. Never mind though, the MTronics system was good in its day, but it is rather old-hat nower days. The motor should be good with a MM esc though.
