I like the pede idea. Maybe use a small brushed motor with a airplane gearbox to a small wheel to get it all moving. Mount it on the back like a wheelie bar, you could even spring load it so that the torque of the motor holds it to the ground under power and when you let off it clears the ground. That way you could start the outrunner when it is moving, say around 5mph. That would cure the startup issues and whining when you win.

If you were to use a wheely bar, this could be built in to the center of it. Just a thought...

The only thing that might be a little hard is keeping it from lifting off. I only took my Stampede to 45MPH and if I gave it some more throttle it would start lifting off the ground.
