Could this controller work fine in my car? I have a converted Savage with a 7XL motor, and I have already fried two 125b. The weight is 14.3lb with 16-cell NiMh (sorry, no money for lipos) and total gear ratio is 25:1 (13T pinion, CEN diffs, 1st gear blocked).

Thanks.

A 7XL in a 14lb++ truck is the first problem and it's the best way to fried alot of controller.
Start by change your 7XL by a 10 or 11 XL, and buy good li-po, i know you tell that you don't have money for li-po, but wait and save some $$$, it's worth all the money you'll spend for it
And yes MGM is very good controller. But it's like any other electronics component, that's not bulletproof.
Lastly, somes MGM have experimenting somes bugs but lots of guys have good result with there MGM and this controller run very cool and smooth.

I agree with david. I'm not surprised at all the you have smoked 2 quarks with the setup you mentioned. 14+ lbs is a big truck for a 7xl I agree that You need to run a lower kv motor. A 7XL spinning at 43K rpm on a 14lb truck will pull a hell of a load. Shoot for a total motor RPM on the conservative side to compensate for the extra weight that will be stressing the system. A high RPM system and heavy load are a recipie for disaster IMO.

As far as the MGM goes. If any controller can take that load it would be the MGM. They run coolr than anything else out there by far. If the latest software update for the false overcurrent problem does indeed solve the issues some have been having (including me) then it would be a great controller. I would hang tight and pay attention to THIS thread before making a decision on the MGM.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...
