I'm really lipo ignorent , so trying to get up to speed on them . Are there better ones out there ? I am still in a budget though, so no 250 dollar packs lol !! Unless thats for 2 !! I already have the ICE charger , is that going to be ok for these ? And what balance plug will I need to look for ? Thanks again, Jerry

No problems using the ICE to charge them. Your best bet is to pick up a Trakpower V-Balancer for them as well. I run two Trakpower packs in my 1/8th scale vehicles and then use a single Trakpower pack in my 1/10th scale vehicles. Here's my stash:

Ok, I have owned both the 6000 packs and the trakpowers. There is no comparison, the trakpower packs can deliver where the 6000 can't. I run quite a few 7xl and coparable motors on 4s, and the difference in acceleration and top speed is very obvious. I have personally sold most of my maxamps packs and will buy some more flightpower/trakpower packs soon.

I even compared the maxamps 5000 2s packs to the trakpower lipos. Apples to apples comparision to me, spec wise. Not even close when it comes to performace and runtime. The enerland based trakpowers can hold voltage better underload, and run cooler too.

I would not recommend maxamps, except their 2100 cells. Go with an enerland based lipo. Flightpower, neuenergy, polyquest, are all good choices.

I've been into RC for some time now. I've spent some time researching the various brands of Lipo's. Even carry/sell some of my own from time to time.

Max Amps has always been a company that boasts such HUGE amp delivering totals for all their packs/cells. Amp ratings that most setups will never even come close to, yet they continue to have issues with their cells. ??
Max Amps has a forum section here that is exclusive to them. If you read down through the various threads in that section of the forum, repeatedly, they are asked the same question. "When will you post discharge test data for your cells?"

These numerous questions are simply avoided or "put-off" as "we are very busy right now with the upcoming Christmas Season" OR "We have something HUGE in the works right now and we've just been focusing all our time on that". PFFTTT

There seems to be a pattern to all of this that only leads me to one conclusion. Overpriced AND over-rated!

As for me, I believe a retailer is only as good as the quality of the products they sell.

Inflated ratings compromises market trust in a given product. Especially something such as Lipo's.

For me as a consumer, I would MUCH rather find comfort in discovering a Lipo was a little under-rated, than the other way around.

Wow. I'm glad I read this. I just got a VXL stampede and need to buy lipos and a charger. I was going to go maxamps, but don't think I will now. What are your thoughts on the Hyperion EOS0606i AC/DC Balance Charger that they sell? I would like a charger that has a balancer, ac, and will charge A123 batteries and the Hyperion fits the bill but do you guys recommend any others?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Pete
