you know the funny part of my leg breaking was it happened after I got out of the hospital. all the damage in the accident was on my right side of my body... I only had 3 stitches on my left leg, 56 on my right and plastic surgery. btw I was the passenger on the bike, which is why I got pitched so hard when the bike crashed. My father worked for ICBC, and because of that I had to meet an independant insurance adjuster after the fact. he was out for lunch, so my bud said let's shoot a game of pool why we wait. I was walking with crutches and used the left leg mostly. I got up to shoot and turned a bit to look at a shot and pop... hey dude my leg kind of hurts... he heard the pop too. well the emergency said it was nothing and to see my family Doc. she took xrays and the tech showed them to me in the elevator ride back up and the outer bone had a hairline fracture that opened up. I couldn't have a cast or I'd lose all mobility so we tensor bandaged it up. I refused the prescription for pain killers because I think that slows the healing down, and I hate taking meds. Doc was shocked I handed back that paper and said no thanks... I lived near the top of what they called 1000 steps in Trail, BC. I walked those stairs twice a day. must have looked funny since I flopped one leg and the other couldn't bend. I had to use my crutch on my right foot when driving to push the gas pedal (had to do grocery shopping somehow) but at least my left could still work the clutch and brake.

I think Docs try to prepare us for the worst by giving a worse case scenario, but the human mind can overcome a lot. I use a lot of natural healing type stuff. My hockey buddies got use to the smell of my fav balm Zeng Gui Shui. It smells kind of like tiger balm, but it speeds the healing process by increasing blood flow to the area. don't get it in an open wound and wash before going to the bathroom (I made the mistake of using it on a pulled groin once.... the wife fell out of bed laughing as I went screaming, literally, for the bathroom to wash up LOL). I learned about that stuff long ago from a martial arts instructor. now you can get it most health food stores and it really works.
