Get a Quark Monster 125B speed control, (good for 6s) and a Neu 1521 1y motor. Blow away nitro like its tied to a post!

Thanks Fast5sRevo88,

With this setup, I will have more power that my nitro?

What battery me advice you to go with the "Savage Tranny Forward brushless conversion"?

Thanks a lot!

The 1521 1y is a crazy powerful motor. I have one in my Revo and its a bit on the crazy side for me. Run time suffers a bit from the sheer size of he motor IMO

I run a much smaller motor than that and blow away any nitro savage around. I'm running a Lehner 1940/7 on 5s lipo and a BK 12020 speed control. Rolling wheelies at 30 mph and 50+ MPH top speeds.

Any decent brushless system will make your nitro savage look silly.

The Quark 125B as recomended above would be good as long as you get a heat sink for it, the MGMs when they come back in stock in a few days should be a great option again. Mike just had his entire stock sent back to the factory to have the latest update done, so all the goofy little issues with them should be fixed now.

Of course... The Mamaba Monster Maxx could eventually show up as well... But I wouldnt hold my breath for it at this point. Who knows when thats actually gonna happen.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Greetings fellow Savage fans. I am jrc, from www.bannedrc.com.
I, too, am new to this particular forum as well as the whole brushless Lipo craze. But not new to Savagery. I have two and a half nitro Savages plus a nearly completed FLM/Addicted2RC black ano tranny forward BL Savage.

I am also suffering from not having a clue as to which motor/esc/battery set up to use. All the different types of motors and all the different specs on the motors and esc give me a headache. I have looked at so many they all are looking about the same.
I trust that most every suggestion here "will work" for a motor/esc set up. I am also quite sure that y'all are convinced that you have the "best" set up. I am not here to argue any of it. Rather discuss it in order for me to get the "right one" for me.
I want my BL Savage to obviously be wicked as hell but I also want it to be useable and not just a silly novelty. I souped up my AErc18b to the hilt and regret it a little bit. Even with the lesser powered 6800kv Mamba competition set up it simply will not get traction - anywhere - any type of tire thus far.
I do not want this with my Savage. Rolling wheelies at 30 MPH sounds real cool to me for sure as does the 50+ top speed.
I guess what I want to know is why do y'all say to get "X" type motor rather than "Y" type motor and ESc and so on.
As I recall the prototype for the BL Savage used a Feigao Motor. 9XL I think it was. Yet y'all have not suggested that motor in this thread. Why?
Again, I am simply being the Devil's Advocate here trying to decide the smart way to go. Like the other fella who started this thread, I haven't the money to experiment and play around with different set-ups.

but I will take a moment to give props to FLM and Addicted2RC for all their help in getting me into this BL Savage kit. They have been fantastic in their customer service skills. I got to go see where they make these kits and was duly impressed. Quite the setup Jamie has over there.

I would appreciate knowing which gear ratio y'all are using also. I was going to purchase a whole "set" of pinion gears but the more I read about the subject, I am starting to think it doesn't really matter that much due to the power of the brushless. I also think my three speed will be better suited for one of my nitro rigs rather than this BL kit the way it is looking.
http://s256.photobucket.com/albums/h.../Tango%20Done/ Here are a few pics of the Lid I painted for the BL Savvy. This is a JConcepts Tango lid made specifically for a Revo 3.3. A little modification to the rear body mount was all that was needed to mount it to the Savage. Perhaps a little bit finky looking due to the longer wheelbase but it;ll do to take out and beat the hell out of. I was not very well pleased with my paint work on this shell this time but practice makes.....well, more practice.
S'all I got for now fellas. Try to not laugh too hard at my paint work. This was only the 4th or 5th one I have done with an airbrush.
