2s 123 would work nicely as a rx pack.

You can get the 1100 mah cells now so it should weigh less and be much smaller than a 4s aa nimh pack

you can get cheap 6 volt packs on e-bay, they cme with the proper plug, hump packs will fit in the same place, you will see more actual voltage and runtime from a six volt pack than 4 aa's, also, plugging the battery into an open third channel rather than the battery slot will give you servos more voltage

Really?? In all the receivers I've looked, the power and ground connections on the battery port were simply paralleled to CH1/2/3...

I read that a long time ago, it was based on the assumption the power channel wasn't paralleled to the servo channels, but if they are I'm wrong, as all plugging it into the third channel did was parallel it, come to think of it, I've never opened up a reciever, I have a couple that need antennas, time to get on that
