I do like them both Neu and LMT but I will agree that in terms of balancing Lehners are on the shy side, while none of them will match quality of pletts, just from observation and testing.

Extra charge for proper, cheaper, simpler end-bell doesn't sounds like German.
What I've read some time ago (and cannot find it anymore, even on the LMT-site they now referring to end-bell difference only!?) that wire gauge was different as well...

I agree with you said about the pletts , there quality is second to none , I have 3 brushless pletts and three brushed all ( 355's )
With water cooling on-demand you can draw ridiculous amount of Amps with smart layout. All the same more Amps, better cooling.
-I do love brushed 355-series, two of them were placed in my neighbors barbi-jeep you can imagine what a joy it was in conjunction with optima battery :)
