Maybe with a 2-speed and one-way bearing they need a shifter for reverse driving.

I don't see the point really - with the power out there in BL (especially a Neu on 6S) there is really no need for a 2-speed. With the low-end torque output of a BL motor, a 2-speed doesn't provide much benefit. And from my experience with my LST2 on BL power - the shift between 1st and 2nd gear would usually pull the front wheels up and frequently cause a brutal back-flip at speed.

The servo is for changing between 1st and 2nd, just like the e-maxx. It's not automatic like a nitro trans, so it doesn't have a one way bearing, otherwise that e-revo, and the e-maxxes would need mechanical brakes.

It would be nice if traxxas could figure out some sort of servo actuated auto shifting 2 speed. Some sort of sensor and and cntroller to shift the servo.
