It may be more for the gears, I dunno. I never really quite "got" the concept of a slipper anyway, and by the time I was old enough to get it, I didn't care about rc anymore. Then I got older, married, became a dad, and now I play with 1/8 scale stuff. WOW am I cool!
I'm waiting for Mike to make his. I know my MBX5T with the Mr. C conversions uses a slipper clutch. I took it out though to go with a higher tooth count on the spur.
Speking of protecting the drivetrain what ever happened to the "Slipperential" that Mike produced? From what I have read he made only one or two, but nothing since. I also read about it in one of the RCAction Mags, but have never seen it since. Was it not a good idea? Or was it just too much for production? Just curious what happened to it?
I hate slippers. I glue my pads to my spurs and tighten the bejeesus out of the slipper for no slip, any time I have the slightest amount of slip it just melts my spur gears. As for protecting the drivetrain- if it needs protection it's time to upgrade.
