Re-sell Value of emaxx? - 04.27.2008, 05:11 PM

So I am thinking of getting out of the hobby for a while since I am in school right now and is way too much expense to try to keep running it. I have never really sold a RC of this caliber and have put a lot of money and work into make this Emaxx what it is. So what I am trying to find out is how much you think this truck is worth? I have a price list of how much I paid for parts and what is on the truck but that dosen’t exactly equal a sell price. How well do Electric RC truck hold their value? I am hoping to get this think up in the bay area on craigslist or should I try out Ebay?
I have had a lot of fun in this field and this decision is purely financial. I will definitely be back in a couple of years with a bigger and better truck (1/8 scale!!!).

Here is a list of after market parts so you can help me find a price

-Feiago XL9
-Custom Made Motor Clamp
-Mamba Max ESC
-Castle Creations BEC
-A123 Batteries 10 total cells 5s2p with Hyperion style Balance connector
-RPM Arms
-RPM Body Posts
-MIP Wheel CVDs
-Traxxas Center CVD
-RCM Steel Idler Gears
-140 in/oz Servo
-Ultimate Engineering Diff Case and Cup with Mod Gear (3mm) fully shimmed
-Aluminum front cup with Mod gear (3mm) Fully shimmed
-Rear Aluminum bulk
- Custom Aluminum skid plate
-RPM Wide Max Rims
- 5mm 20t Pinion
- Sunon high RPM fans 2x motor 1x MM
- I am also going to included all the extra and old parts from over the years because I have no use for them.

And the moment you have all been waiting for photos!

Here are some photos of the bracket when I was building it so you can see it better. Also shown is when I was building up the rear diff earlier this year.

Looks great, probably get decent amount for it & since brushless is the go at the moment, alot of people will be looking. 95% of gear I sell, I put on ebay. The other 5% were on rctech.

i would say a decent sell you would return about half investment. thats about how much i got out of mine and i also included alot of extra's for almost another complete truck. if its truely a finiancial decision, and you're in need of the most money possible. you need to split it up and sell it. list everything at once, but in pieces. if somebody want you're whole package they'll bid on everything. a full running vehical with lots of upgrades will do nothing but cost you and give buyers an oppertunity for a great deal.

I'm with those guys. I used to buy auctions like yours and part them out to support my R/C addiction. I always made money on the deal when I did it.

The best ever was when I bought a truck for ~$500 and parted it out for ~$1500. Too bad I couldn't get deals like that more often!

Wow it looks pretty unanimous that I should really just part this thing out. So should I go as far as breaking down the tranny and selling the RCM idlers and pulling apart the rear diff ect. Or do you normally sell like a entire diff with mod ring gear ect?
