Mamba Monster dead? - 05.09.2008, 07:21 PM

I was out shooting some video, slowed down turned around and the esc cut out. It will not power back on, it will not link to castle link anymore but the fan will spin when connected to castle link. the fan will twitch a little when a battery is applied.

Temp when it cut off was 121, motor 123, battery 93, ambient 88 after 15 minutes or running in dry bumpy grass.

Probably but I'm hesitant to crack the case open in fear of voiding the warranty. It does not have that ominous smell of death, it just will not go. the truck did take a good high speed cartwheel, but if stopped working in reverse not after the cartwheel. I will have video footage on the web in a bit.

This truck is cursed. Fried an MM just by powering it on (on 5s, yeah my risk). Fried a Quark who knows how and badly! And I will not say fried a Mamba Monster, it does not smell fried, it just died.

Check your switch. It seems to slide easily. I already replaced mine with an old MM switch.

Switch is fine. It should link to castle link, switch or not and will not. I'd love to mess with it and figure it out but I do not want to void the warranty on it. Patrick, Joe, Bernie, can I crack this thing open?

edit: verified switch is fine, When I flip in on the fan twitches but does not spin, when off it stops.

Hmm, try it with an external Rx pack and the red wire removed from the Rx harness...might have killed the internal BEC.

meh, such is life. I dub this Revo "ESC Killer" I think it really does not want to be electric.

Just to add a note, no binding, mesh is fine, temps were right on par, just typical DickyT luck or a cursed Revo.

That should have no effect with it linking to castle link, but after I get the buggy in one piece I will. I need something to drive at the company picnic tomorrow.

You're right, it shouldn't matter when linking it with the Castle Link. Hmm...still sounds like something with the low voltage/control section of the ESC if your fan won't spin up. Heck, put a voltmeter across the red and black on the Rx harness when you plug your batt in. It should be 5+volts.

As far as I know, opening the case doesn't void the warranty. It was designed to be opened for easy replacement of the fan. Though - check with CC as the final word on this. I'm not positive.

Anyway, good luck! I hope you get it figured out.
