I don’t mean to analyzes your truck, I just love looking it, these things just pop out (sorry)

i had to read that a few times to understand it, then i looked at the pics and was like, aaahhhh

im still going to be using the gmaxx lower plate, i just had it off to fit the CD mount, and didn't get it back on for the pics. It was really only a mock up in the pics, you can see that i only have four screws holding on the plate instead of eight, and theyre all different lengths.

I had to make the CD plate because if i mounted the CD on the 'floor,' (lower gmaxx plate) i wouldn't be able to get clearence between the motor and the upper back plate, if that makes sense... also, the 44t kyosho spur fits EXACTLY in between the frame rails, like perfectly, not even half a mill on each side to spare, so i had to raise the CD for clearence there as well.

i think i've answered your question , if not, please feel free to clarify. Im open to any suggestions/questions/comments/criticisms, after all, it can only make the truck better.

thanks
jordan

Couldn't you mount it on the lower deck and just move the whole diff assembly forward?

Like this. This is my G2R Revo with one of Dafs center dif mounts in it. The diff is totally forward and allows the motor to sit low, almost in between the rails of the chassis. With a little creativity you could probably get it even farther forward on a Maxx. With the revo you start running into the shock positions that cause more problems.

Here is an earlier incarnation of it with a 1521 just to show you that a longer motor will fit. I would think that on the maxx you could find another 6mm to fit the 1527 you are planning.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

that is one slick setup jhautz, i love the swaybar braces coming off of the sides of the mount, and I see you've already predicted and rebutted my first question/argument about the size of the motor

Does daf still produce these mounts?? looking at the design, i might still be able to use the Xray mounts i have, and just make a motor mount to fit the motor.

jhautz, how do you like the CD setup compared to the e-maxx tranny setup?

A sweet looking design, i'll definately look into it, thanks jhautz, and also thanks the Shaun (TDC57) for bringing up the topic

i've just been playing around with different placements of the CD on the lower deck. Having the diff placed exactly where i see it in the pics, just before the front upper gmaxx plate, the diff hits my servo saver. Maybe the steering assembly on the Revo is a little farther forward than it is on the Maxx??

When i move the CD unit back far enough for the SS to clear, the bottom of the spur hits the lower deck. Maybe Dafni's mounts position the diff a little higher up than standard buggy/truggy CD mounts?

[EDIT] i think i know whats causing the problem. Due to the Revo's suspension setup, the bulkheads are located further away from the chassis than they are on the maxx, thus the steering assembly is also further away. From the third picture down, i can tell that there is a fairly long driveshaft. On the maxx, the dogbone would only be around 2cm i'll get some pics up shortly

[EDIT 2 ]

sorry for the crappy pics, my camera doesnt take good close ups. Please let me know if im doing something wrong here, i would still love to mount the motor low down in the chassis.

thanks
jordan

If your front dogbone is that short, it should in theory be bulletproof because there's not much that can bend or break. About how long would your rear dogbone have to be?

that equals a rear dogbone length of 7 inches

if you look at the first pic, you can see the centre diff cup is past the SS arm though, so i would have to mount the unit further back, which means the motor might not fit. Maybe if someone hadn't gone overboard on the motor, then this setup would be way easier to install
what can i say, i NEED power

Yeah, I would too if I spent (I'm guessing) $3500 on a truck. The rear dogbone would have to be pretty dang fat to not snap, though.
