That is one hungry beast... 9+HP in only 24lbs is just incredible. Compared to a performance car like a Mustang GT with decent mods (~3000lbs, 400HP) the weight/power ratio can't be touched... ~2lbs/HP with your E-Baja and only 7.5lbs/HP with the Mustang GT!

texassp, its about 110 in the day right now, it will cool down to the 80s or 90s at night. in another month or two it will be 120 or more and regardless of how you have your stuff setup it will run hot. you being from texas, im sure you understand.

yes, we have a cap for the motor to keep debris out of it. just trying to find a screen to put over the cooling holes so the internal fan can do its job. the 2215 is supposed to run about 97% effeciency so it runs cool naturally.

the adaptor to connect the motor to the pinion gear is machined. the stock clutch bell on a baja rides in a bearing carrier and has a dovetail grove on the end of it that the pinion gear locks onto. there is a screw that screws into the adaptor and holds the pinion in place. the adaptor is basically a replica of the clutch bell, minus the bell. where the bell used to to be, machine it down to about 1 in. and put a set screw in place. at first we were concerned that the motor shaft was not notched and doubted that the setscrew would hold. so far not problems yet. the 2215 comes with an optional 10mm or 5 mm shaft, ours has the 5mm but i think the 10mm would be better since there is plenty of room to make the adaptor bigger.


the motor plate could be shortened significantly. we actually made the motor mount before the motor came in, just going on the size listed on the neu page. the original plan was to have a rear support for the motor, four 5mm bolts hold the motor to the plate, a rear support is not needed.

the pinion and spur are in fixed locations, to change the gearing you would have to buy them as a set. i havnt even looked into optional gearing.

Nice conversion. You can use a flat foam or flat out a piece of an old K&N filter and it should allow plenty of air to flow into the motor. Another option is one of those fine screen mesh either made out of fiber glass or some kind of metal.

Yeah it gets hot and humid and Houston, but you guys have it tough. Anytime I get to moaning about the weather I think of all of the men and women like you in Iraq in the hotter weather in full battle gear and not having the amenities we take for granted. My prayers go out to all soldiers and my thanks as well.

I think your system is holding pretty well considering the heat though and I am glad to hear that.

sounds like Phoenix in the summer, averages 110-115 during the day85-95 at night the coolest time is @ 7am for some strange reason
