Just got home and updated the firmware. It's much better now, I had a bad pack (that I shouldn't even try to charge anyway), and with the old firmware the bad cell would shoot up to 4.4V no matter what the state of charge of the whole pack. Now the charger limits the charge current to keep that cell under 4.215V - much better I think :) Now I just have to remove that dodgy cell haha.

Besides the required equip - how difficult is this to do? What were you ruuning on your PC, XP?

I get concerned when warned that if this messes up you will be left without a working charger. It does look interesting enough to want the PC capabilities that this lends to the charger, but if its real risky, I'll just keep using mine with the firmware I got it with.
