Ok, I've got my MMM coming today so last night I had to build a platform for it. I decided to mount it over the steering servo and make the platform out of the left over CF from making my battery "tray". I think it turned out pretty nice - check it out:
Well I've given the XT8 the full shakedown at the track so I thought I would post some pictures (dirt and all ) as well as the data collected from the testing. Basically it looks like I'm getting 25 minutes of run time in racing conditions if the track isn't watered down. Haven't tested it yet in the high traction but I'll let you all know. Temps at the end of the run were 100 degrees for the motor, 95 for the battery, and 110 for the ESC. I know . . . the ESC temp is tough to really guage in that Fort Knoxx casing, but that was the best I could get. Ambient temps weren't too hot though - right under 80. Here's some photos:
Where do i get a Neu with that fan endbell, straight from Neu or what? And i don't mean to get off subject, but can i get some pics of that red Ferrari above your workbench?

I got mine from Diversity Model Aircraft @ flydma.com. It is technically a heli motor when it has that endbell fan configuration and Mike doesn't carry them. I'm sure you can contact Neu for one also.
Ah, the TT-01 Ferrari - my son would be stoked you're asking about it. He loves that thing. I'll see if I have any other pictures of it although I don't think I have any here at work.
Normal objective is to seal the motor rather than blow stuff into it.
That's an awesome quote there! On that note, my "air filter" is working excellent. Just a piece of felt cut to fit as shown in some of the past photos seems to do the trick. Not sure anyone really needs to run the heli motor though. A properly setup system shouldn't need it.
Thanks Shaun! I'm thrilled with it so far. In fact this last weekend I raced it in a 15 minute main and it performed excellent. There were a lot of people interested when I finished in 2nd place.
As far as a conversion, I don't think it's doable. Here's a link to the specs on the XB8:
is the spur gear mod1 pitch? oh, and i dont really want to be a pain , but do you know roughly what the diameter of the fan endbell is, it looks a bit bigger than the motor, and how much length does it add on compared to a non F version?
Thanks jordan! To answer your questions, yes the spur is mod 1 - it's a Kyosho 44t from RCM. And you're right . . . the end bell is bigger than the standard motors. It's roughly 2" diameter at it's widest point vs 1.56" diameter for a smooth can (not sure the finned diameter). The length is 3-1/8" vs. the typical 2.7" too. Oh, and by the way, the "F" version stands for "finned". This motor is technically a heli motor with a finned can so it's has the F & H designation. The heli motors have this type of end bell with the fan built in.
Those looks like the Progressive srpings from Reckward Tuning. I have the Extra Hard ones in my BPP truggy and I love them. The rear of my truck is a bit bounce even with 50wt shock oil. Which ones are those in your truck? How do they perform on the track? What kind of shock oil are you using?

Hay Sower,
Thank you for the information!, it was extremely helpful in determining that it is not possible to perform the conversion without a lot of money!, so I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to buy one.
Thanks again for the great information and great build!..
