does it look like there could be a way to cut out part of the chassis where the battery compartment is so the battery wouldnt be completely enclosed? or would this compromise the strength too much

On the left hand side (stock ESC side) you could cut the top of the "box" away and be able to put batteries that are taller than 30mm in there. You'd need to have some sort of shelf over the front or rear shocks so you'd have somewhere to stick the ESC though, obviously.

The right side of the truck still wouldn't be as easy as the stock two motor, motor mount hangs over more on the right side than it does on the left. Once we can get our hands on a traxxas single motor mount (or get something else to fit) we might have more options.

i would go with the conversion . i was reading in the car action special issue : monster trucks that the traxxas e-revo will only do 28 mph . so on top of the e-revo kit then you are going to have to add your brushless set up to that so either way you are going to shell out some money .
i do see a lot of people using the e-maxx transmision but if you use the tekno conversion kit you use the revo's stock transmission and you can tweak on it just like the nitro .
either way good luck on your decision

thanks
