Thanks for the info so far guys. I think I may have reached a verdict.

The factory length is 8.5, and I guess the measurement must be "wavelength divisible" or something to that effect, and half of that is 4.25.

4.25 minus 3.6 gives you .65", which is about the length of wire that is inside the case, I am guessing. So I think they are taking the measurement from outside.

Crossin' my fingers and going for it......

Anyone tried just cutting it off?
Think of the clean install :)

Interesting.... it's too bad they were not more specific on this topic. Seems very obvious that they should be clear about this, but they are not.

Whoops, I have only taken the tx modues apart for my m11 and they have the coax antenna wire. I have not pulled a rx apart, but it is good to konw that it is just a std wire. Funny thing is that I rencetly pulled the fixed antenna off my cordless phone, and it has a coax antenna wire too. That was a sumbitch to solder back on...
