I have been thinking of adding the Extension kit to my UE/VBS equiped chassis. As noted in another thread the skid plate must be modified to work with the VBS, abit of grinding and new mounting holes. In reading about the extension kit I noted that the extension permits the substituion of a front skid in place of the offered rear.
My question are: Can I utilize a UE/VBS front skid in the rear and avoid the drill and grind routine? Here is the link to the extension for reference. One issue that I see is that the front skid has an angle to it and is not flat like the rear. How would the handling characteristics be effected?

The UE vbs front and rear skids are not interchangeable, as the front and rear vbs both have different mounting holes! If it were that easy, you could simply pound the bend out of the front skid and use it, but unfortunately, it is not this simple. I used a g-maxx rear extended skid plate and drilled new holes to match the rear vbs, them cut away the excess material. Not too hard, really.

I have a set of F/R titanium VBS skids in my hand. When holding them together the holes appear to line up?

Perhaps Robin changed the design? The holes did not line up on mine. I even spoke with Robin about this about 2 years ago and he said they didn't line up either. It was then that I decided to make my own! If you think it will work, then go for it. Much easier to simply straighten the bend on a front skid than it is to make a custom skid.

Wow! You are good and fast on the response. The only difierence I see is the bend. If the bend is left in"titanium"; how would that effect the geometry?

When you screw in all the other parts, the bend will straighten out anyways. If the screw holes line up, then it will work just fine. I would try it before buying another front skid, though!

Thanks Mike. I have both aluminum and titanium front VBS skids in my hand already. I'll have to give it a shot. Look for an order for the CF extension Monday or Tuesday.

LMK if it works. You can test the skid without the extension(just try to attach the rear vb to the front skid in its proper orientation). I will keep a lookout for your order.
