I would just send it in. They really stand behind their motors and may fix it for free. The endbell of my 1515 1.5d/f started to come off, so I sent it in...with no receipt. Not only did they fix it, they put new bearings in too. It was like a New Neu! All this for free. They even paid the return shipping.

I sent one in for new bearings once. About 2 weeks total shipping incl. Fairly cheap and it was like a new motor when I got it back.

Don't even mess with it IMO. Just call Neu and send it in.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Hey thanks for the feedback and I agree with all of you that I should just send it back and let the pro's check it out. Steve Neu did reply and basically said the same thing. It's just that I hate to be without my motor for 2 weeks. Also, pretty quick response from Steve.

Hello,
It might be a good idea to send it in for a check-up. .05 is a little too much.

But for the peace of mind that 2wks buys, I think it'll be well worth it.

It really impresses me to encounter a business that cares about their customers!
